What we treat at Kolmac: Substance use and mental health conditions

Substance use disorders

Substance use disorder is a chronic, treatable medical condition that affects how the brain processes rewards, motivation, and even your decision-making, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

That’s why Kolmac’s outpatient treatment focuses on each patient’s clinical needs and personal treatment goals. We treat the full spectrum of substance use disorders in adults, including alcohol, opioids, prescription medications, stimulants, cannabis, and polysubstance use.

How we treat what you’re going through

Kolmac offers multiple levels of outpatient care to match clinical need. All programs offer in-person and virtual options, and patients can step up or down between levels as their needs change.

Intensive outpatient program (IOP)

Multiple structured sessions per week combining group therapy, individual counseling, psychiatric services, and family involvement.

Partial hospitalization program (PHP)

Full-day structured programming multiple days per week for patients who need more intensive daily support. Currently available at our Pennsylvania, Virginia, and D.C. locations.

Outpatient therapy and continuing care

Individual therapy and continuing care following IOP or PHP, focused on skill reinforcement and long-term stability.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)

FDA-approved medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders, integrated into IOP and outpatient services within a coordinated care team.

Kolmac’s programs are grounded in evidence-based practices and delivered by licensed clinicians with specialized training in addiction medicine, psychiatry, and behavioral health.

Every treatment plan is individualized based on clinical assessment, personal history, co-occurring conditions, and each patient’s own goals.

Not sure where to start? We can help.

That’s a normal reaction. Many people who contact Kolmac aren’t sure whether they need support for substance use, mental health, or both. That’s exactly what the evaluation process figures out.

Reaching out is often the hardest part. The intake process is straightforward, with clear next steps from the first conversation. Same-day appointments are available.

If you’re ready to take that step, our admissions team is ready to help. If you’re not sure yet, that’s a reasonable place to be, too. Get help today.
