Outpatient treatment (OP) at Kolmac: Flexible care after IOP
We offer two OP tracks: mental health outpatient and substance use outpatient. Both offer flexible scheduling and personalized care designed to fit around your life.
What is outpatient (OP) treatment?
Outpatient treatment is the least intensive level of care in Kolmac’s continuum: a structured but flexible program for people who are ready to maintain their progress with fewer weekly sessions.
Clinically, it corresponds to the lowest level of outpatient care under the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria. It’s appropriate for people whose symptoms are manageable day-to-day but who still benefit from regular clinical contact.
OP is usually the right fit if you’re transitioning from intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization. It’s also appropriate for people managing a mild-to-moderate substance use disorder or maintaining their mental health with ongoing therapeutic support. Think of it as a continuation of the work you’ve already started.
Our two OP tracks
Kolmac offers two outpatient tracks that let us focus on what you need, not a one-size-fits-all program.

How OP fits the Kolmac continuum
Outpatient treatment sits toward the end of Kolmac’s continuum, coming in after you’ve completed the more intensive work. The typical pathway at Kolmac looks like this:
Virtual detox
Medically supervised withdrawal management, available virtually or at home.
Partial hospitalization
Structured daytime programming for people who need intensive daily support.
Intensive outpatient
Multiple sessions per week combining therapy, group work and psychiatric care.
Outpatient treatment (OP)
Flexible, lower-intensity sessions to maintain progress and build lasting skills.
Continuing care
Ongoing support after OP to help you stay on track long term.
Not everyone needs to move through every level. Some enter at intensive outpatient and step down to OP, while others enter the outpatient level directly. The important thing is that you find the right fit for your needs and your life.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) within OP
For people in the substance use OP track, medication-assisted treatment is available as part of your care plan. MAT combines FDA-approved medications with therapy and clinical support to help manage cravings and reduce the risk of relapse.
At Kolmac, psychiatric professionals oversee and adjust your MAT, allowing for continuous medical oversight and personalized treatment.
