| The Silver Spring, Maryland office of the Kolmac Clinic opened in 1973 as an outpatient alcohol treatment program. The program was co-founded by Dr. George Kolodner and Jim McMahon. It was the first intensive outpatient program (IOP) in the country. All other alcohol and drug rehabilitation at the time was being delivered on an inpatient, residential or partial-hospitalization basis. To date the Clinic has treated over 10,000 patients.
This office provides ambulatory detoxification, intensive outpatient alcohol and drug treatment, continuing care and family services. Clients at this office have the option of attending our Day or Evening program. The Day IOP program runs weekdays, from 10:00am to 1:00pm and the Evening IOP program runs weekdays, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The continuing care and family schedules vary, so please check with us for the current schedule.
J. Gerald Fath, D.MIN, LCPC, MAC is the Clinical Director of the Silver Spring Day Program. Jerry has been in the counseling field for over twenty years and has been providing alcohol and drug treatment at Kolmac since 1992. David Havsky, M.A. is the Clinical Director of the Silver Spring Evening Program. David received a Masters in Clinical Psychology degree in 2002. He has held a number of clinical and administrative positions in the field of substance abuse treatment over the past seventeen years. He is keenly interested in the interface of research and treatment along with the discovery and implementation of effective new drug and alcohol treatment interventions.
