The Kolmac Treatment Model

Kolmac combines the focus of inpatient treatment with the flexibility of an outpatient model. Our comprehensive programs consist of a unique integration of the three traditional phases of treatment. Each phase overlaps to provide a smooth transition.

Phase 1: Outpatient Detoxification (Detox)

If needed, the Kolmac medical staff can help patients safely and comfortably detox in an outpatient setting. Patients stay for five to eight hours on the first day. We offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to address cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Phase 2: Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)

During the IOP phase, patients attend three-hour group therapy and education sessions. Individual counselors will slowly taper the frequency of these sessions over the course of IOP as the patient’s condition stabilizes. We also schedule individual treatment sessions and family support groups.

Phase 3: Outpatient Treatment

At this stage, patients will attend two hours of group therapy once a week, including monthly, recovery-related education sessions. The length of this phase of treatment varies, depending on individual needs.

Who We Help

Addiction affects people from all walks of life, as well as their loved ones. Kolmac helps a variety of patients overcome substance use disorders.

Women and Men

While men and women can both struggle with addiction, women are less likely to seek treatment. In our outpatient treatment model, patients don’t have to leave family and work responsibilities to go to a rehab center, and most of our centers offer evening hours. We also offer weekly breakout groups to address the specific addiction treatment needs of women.

Work stress can sometimes contribute to addiction, but it can be hard to take time off work to attend an inpatient treatment program. Kolmac solves this problem by offering outpatient treatment that works with the schedule of a busy professional.

Young Adults

Kolmac treats patients who are 18 or older, and younger patients often have different clinical needs than older ones, as their bodies and brains are still developing. Kolmac offers treatment options that are specifically designed to meet the needs of young adults. Our outpatient program allows students to attend around their school schedule.

Friends and Family

Loved ones often feel the effects of addiction. We offer education and weekly support groups for family and friends. Their participation helps patients achieve long-term recovery.

Why the Kolmac program works

You might have heard that you need to get away from your everyday life and focus on treatment to be successful. While this is true in some extreme cases, most people receiving treatment as part of daily life are just as successful (if not more so) than those in inpatient treatment.

Familiar Surroundings, Familiar Routine

With outpatient treatment, patients not in an unfamiliar setting. Instead of learning new skills and coping mechanisms in an isolated environment, they immediately learn how to apply them to your daily life. This can lead to greater and more lasting treatment success.

Flexibility and Savings

The high cost of inpatient or residential treatment—often $25,000 or more—can be a barrier for patients to seek help, not to mention the stress of disrupting their daily life. Kolmac services are priced to be affordable for most patients, and we are also in-network with most commercial insurance companies.
