Description
This presentation will be a basic orientation to gambling disorders. It will discuss the normalization of gambling in our society. We will look at prevalence of gambling disorders and types of gamblers. Gambling will be presented as an addiction and the gambling-substance abuse connection will be considered. There will be a discussion of signs and symptoms of a gambling disorder and a brief overview of screening, assessment, and treatment. Gambling will be presented as a public health issue that affects individuals, families, and society.
