Will it be a problem if my work schedule conflicts with the group times?

Yes. We offer programs that run in both the day and the evening. We think it is important for group functioning for the patient to arrive on time and stay for the entire group. Our experience has been that employers tend to be receptive to a temporary schedule change when we supply a nonspecific medical excuse slip.

What is the program like?

We attempt to make the patient feel safe and comfortable in group and avoid confrontational or adversarial treatment. The sessions use a cognitive behavioral approach, which looks at the thought process and beliefs underlying the patient's behavior.

How long is the program and how long do I have to come?

The rehabilitation or intensive outpatient (IOP) phase is between 20 and 30 sessions. This works out to approximately 7 to 8 weeks. The patient is expected to complete the entire program.

Can a person come for detox and not participate in the counseling part of our program?

We have found that when detox is done without the person participating in a program the rate of relapse among patients is high. It makes more sense to us for a patient to be part of a comprehensive treatment program.

Do we treat dual diagnosis (patients with a substance use disorder as well as another behavioral health condition such as depression)?

Yes, as long as the diagnosis is not psychosis.  Additional information can be found on the dual diagnosis page.

Do you follow a 12-step model?

While it is not a mandatory requirement for our program, we strongly encourage patients to participate in a community recovery support group and it is discussed throughout our program.
